Chicago is facing affordable housing crisis while hundreds of vacant buildings are boarded up on the South and West Side. Yet last December the City announced a Central Area Plan 2045 with more investment in the city center leaving other neighborhoods behind. That's when I decided to run.
This year I saw my friend moving out her beloved Hyde Park having trouble to find affordable housing in the neighborhood. I have seen displaced residents from Cabrini Green and other public housing communities during Plan for Transformation are still unable to return to their childhood neighborhoods after 20 years.
